Why the “i”

For those who don’t know me personally, reading and or seeing the lowercase i is bound to give some fits. Trust me, i know! Besides hearing it over and over from like-minded individuals to actually having someone knowingly come behind me and edit me without my knowledge; i want you to at least understand the why.

It requires me to force edit my own work, each time i type i it autocorrects to “I,” and i then go back and undo the edit reverting it back to “i.” Each time it reminds me to be humble, to think of others more significant than myself. It is a reminder to be a servant first in life and in writing. The same applies when i write my name. Any time in fact, when i am referring to myself, it is always in the lowercase.

It is for me, not you that i do this. It is my personal reflection. Every time i sit to write, it keeps the idea in the forefront of my mind. It goes with my life verse from Micah 6:8 paraphrased, “Do justly, love mercy, walk humbly.” Besides if i can get you to spend all your grammatical thought on the “i” maybe you’ll miss the other grammatical errors. Then again, just read from an open heart so that you might receive what is intended, a word of encouragement for your journey.
